Jazz, Funk, Rock, and Fusion

south african bass

Even though Josh was born in 1985 he wouldn't even touch an instrument for the next 17 years. It wasn't until Christmas of his senior year in high school that he would get his first bass. After only 3 years of playing, under the direction of his mentor and teacher David Hilton, Josh received a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music where he was considered a decisive leader, a trusted studio musician and a reliable sideman. A year later Josh received an artist endorsement with Fodera Guitars. Since being at Berklee Josh has had the opportunity to play and study with great musicans such as: Matthew Garrison (Herbie Hancock, John Mclaughlin, John Scofield and the SNL band) Kevin Freeby (Planet X) Bob Magnuson (Buddy Rich) Todd Johnson (Mike Stern, Dave Weckl, Scott Henderson, Poncho Sanchez, and Frank Gambale) Russell Bizzett (Jimmy Smith, Ravi Coltrane, Kenny Garrett) Lincoln Goines (Arturo Sandoval, Michele Camilo, Brecker Brothers) Mike Pope (Steve Smith, David Sanborn, and Bill Bruford) Clifford Brown III and more. Joshua is now in Southen California and trying to establish himself as world class bassist and composer.

Matthew Garrison, Jaco Pastorius, Dominique Di Piazza, Janek Gwizdala, Hadrien Feraud, Tony Grey, John McLaughlin, Todd Johnson, Pat Metheny, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bil Evans, Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Tal Wilkenfeld, Herbie Hancock, and many more
