My name is Rudy Membiela and I've been playing bass & percussion for over 25 years. I'm adept at playing 4 and 5 string fretted and fretless electric bass and acoustic double (upright) bass. I am of a third generation of musicians in my family and am also related to the late international Cuban singing star of the late 1940's Nico Membiela. As a veteran of the Chicago music scene, I've played in many different musical situations and am available for your live or studio project and/or tour. Currently I lead my own Latin Jazz ensemble PICANTE. I divide my bass playing & vocal duties while implementing all sorts of assorted percussion both of the hand type as well as larger percussion such as timbales, congas, djembe, & drum set. I also write original jazz, latin, latin-jazz, blues, rock, pop, & adult contmporary music.
